Blame The Printer Last
When misprint rates climb, the printer gets blamed first and the stencil gets wiped harder. But most of the time, the apertures were already blocked before the board ever arrived.

Apertures don't block all at once. They block one print at a time — and the printer takes the blame for every single one.
So squeegee pressure gets adjusted. Separation speed gets adjusted. The paste gets questioned. Then someone wipes the stencil harder by hand, and for half a shift the problem goes away. That's exactly how it survives for another six months.
The four costs of a stencil nobody cleans properly
The defect you ship. Blocked apertures cause insufficient or missing paste. Some of those joints get caught at SPI or AOI. Some don't, and they turn into field failures with your name on the board.
The re-contamination nobody models. If filtered paste balls find their way back onto the stencil during rinsing, you clean a stencil and hand it back dirtier than it arrived. This is the failure mode most manual wiping never solves, because a wipe moves contamination around rather than removing it.
The changeover that will not close. A weak or slow drying step stretches every changeover. Multiply a few extra minutes by every changeover per shift, and you've paid for a machine in lost capacity.
The operator you cannot rotate. Hand cleaning is a skill. It lives in one or two people, it varies between shifts, and when they're absent, the process changes with them.
The Misprint Triage: four checks before you touch the printer
1. Inspect the aperture, not the print. Under magnification, is the deposit in the aperture wall or on the stencil surface? Wall residue means the cleaning cycle is not reaching it.
2. Check the rinse, not just the wash. A clean wash followed by a contaminated rinse is a net loss. Filtration on the rinse circuit matters as much as filtration on the wash circuit.
3. Time the drying step. If changeover time is your complaint, the constraint is usually drying, not washing. Measure it before you buy anything.
4. Log the interval. How many prints between cleans, and is that number a specification or a habit? Most factories discover the interval was never actually decided.
Where the SME800 fits
The SME800 is an electric stencil cleaning machine for removing solder paste, red glue, and resin or copper mask residue from SMT stencils between print jobs — and for cleaning misprinted PCBs.
The design answers the triage directly:
Load. Stencils up to 750 mm (L) × 750 mm (W) × 40 mm (H).
Wash with the stencil moving and the rods fixed. Four fixed spray bars do the work while the stencil travels through them. Moving the heavy, expensive item past stationary rods is more repeatable than sweeping a hand-held nozzle.
Rinse with DI water through four fixed spray bars, under real-time 1 µm filtration. Filtration grade is 1 µm on both the cleaning liquid and the DI water circuit, in real time — which is what keeps solder paste balls from returning to the stencil and re-contaminating boards after rinsing. That is the specific failure mode check 2 is looking for.
Dry. A defined, repeatable drying cycle, so changeover time stops depending on who is on shift.

When the SME800 is not the right machine. If your process uses flammable solvents, or the site has limited electrical power, the S-1688 pneumatic cleaner is the better fit — fully pneumatic, no electric power. For dual-stencil throughput, the SME-750II is the alternative. We would rather sell you the machine that matches your chemistry than the one with more features.
Loop: make the interval a controlled number
Set a cleaning interval from print count, not from habit, and review SPI data monthly against it. When insufficient-paste defects start trending up, the interval is the first variable to test — before anyone touches printer parameters. Keep one number on the board: prints between cleans.
