Notes From the Line

After the wave, the pliers come out: manual THT lead trimming is the step most line charts leave out, and it is where yield quietly leaks away. Here is how an inline auto lead cutter closes the gap.

When misprint rates climb, the printer gets blamed first and the stencil gets wiped harder. But most of the time, the apertures were already blocked before the board ever arrived.

The chip is the cheapest thing you lose in a bad rework. The board, the cycle time and the customer's confidence cost considerably more.

A machinery safety standard became the best product spec we ever received. The story of engineering ESD feeder trolleys and safety fingers that survive certification thinking.

Finger marks, warped pallets, and chain jitter quietly eat your wave soldering yield. A field guide to the consumables nobody budgets for — and the 50/90/100 matching method.

Your wave solder pallets travel further on foot than any board travels on a conveyor. That distance is a headcount line item nobody has ever measured.

Our SAGV30C return trolley costs about two months of one operator's wage and removes the walking from wave soldering pallet transport. Here is when an AGV earns its keep — and when it does not.

Placement holds tolerance, reflow holds profile — and then the panel gets snapped by hand. The cheapest station on the line is quietly the most expensive one.
